Tron DVD

Tron is an American action science fiction film that was first released in 1982 which was produced by Walt Disney Pictures after it got turn down for production from many high profile firms such as Universal for an example. It costs staggering $17 million dollars to make but just managed to take in worldwide revenue of $33 million dollars. Tron movie is still receiving further revenue since it was released in 1982, Walt Disney have just released the Tron DVD along with special features included. It was first released in the UK with series of advertising then across the world despite the fact the movie was first released in US.

The plot of the story is about a arcade owner, Kevin Flynn, who became a hacker to prove that the most popular videogames from ENCOM were in fact stolen from him by ex colleague who has just become a head of the ENCOM that also manage Kevin’s arcade games. Despite an effort to prove that the games were stolen from him, it has become useless as the Master Control Program has been installed into his arcade video games to stop anyone including Kevin from hacking into the games. Unfortunately, Master Control caught Kevin trying to hack into the system, it pulled him into the virtual world. Kevin’s only hope is to continue to battle with Master Control virtually with assistance of Tron, a heroic independent systems security program, to destroy Master Control system. The Tron DVD shows clearer and crispier images compare to Tron on VHS.

Tron DVD has special features that contain further information on its actors and the director of the movie. Jeff Bridges star as Kevin who tried to hack into Master Control system. Bruce Boxleitner star as Alan who is the hero of the game as software known as Tron which is a security system that join in hand with Kevin to fight off the Master Control. David Warner star as Master Control Program but as a voice cast and Cindy Morgan star as Dr Lora Baines where she support Kevin and soon becomes his girlfriend. All actors are C listed since the movie budget was small and Walt Disney Pictures did not want to take on more risk.

Tron were almost forgotten as a movie newer generation embraced the newer movies that had special effects that made Tron look extremely outdated. Not only they were outdated but they didn’t have A-list actors/actresses which reduced the reach within the new generation. Desperate for the movie not to be forgotten by Walt Disney and older generation of movie watchers, Walt Disney decided to cash in DVD boom which was at its peak in late 1990s, so they introduced Tron DVD which was a success due to the fact majority of new movie were not out in DVD and those with DVD players had to wait, so they decided to watch Tron in between and thoroughly enjoyed it as it was supported by the fact the DVD had extra features to explore.

Tron DVD has pulled in further revenue from the actual computer game Tron based on the Tron movie itself. The fits game came out in 1982 after the release of the game. It was a coin operated arcade video game. It features two characters and equipment known from the film, where light cycles, battle tanks, the input/output Towers. It became very popular at that time that the game earned far more than the film’s initial release. When Tron DVD came out, further opportunity were there for Walt Disney to cash on and another sequel followed in 2003 with the computer game Tron 2.0. It was released on Xbox Live Arcade and it was also a success.
